"Sometimes a wasteland can bear the sturdiest tree, the wildest beast and the brightest flower."
um is simple. Just chew it up and enjoy the flavor. This is exactly how God's Children describe the songwriting on their new record, GUM. The sophomore effort by the Niagara Falls, NY, quintet is truly the work of a band developing its own groove.
On this record, as well is in some of their recent performances, the group has stripped down to the basics, resulting in a cleaner smoother sound. The results are spectacular. Songs like "Superman" and "Laughter" validate the band's rock and roll credentials and show immediately why Peter Vogt is a "singer's singer." With the perfect electric/acoustic mix, "Searching for Diamonds" sticks to you like gum on a hot summer sidewalk.
"..and it burns my soul and it burns my beaten hands. We're still searching for diamonds in the sand.."
The tracks "Buck Up," "Heroes," and "Well, Well" solidify the intensity of their new release.
"..You're my best friend, and I love you.."
Can you say heavy rotation?
od's Children has also stormed onto the big screen. The band's music appears on a multitude of movie soundtracks including the Polygram film, "A Thousand Acres," the Warner Brothers hit "Vegas Vacation" and Disney's "Man of the House." God's Children has taken over the "small screen" as well, with their music appearing in HBO's "Hard Justice," the NBC Movie of the Week, "Born into Exile," the CBS movie "The Good Doctor," and the ABC Movie of the Week, "Outrage." Their reputation is spreading around the world as their music appears on such highly rated prime time television shows as "The X-Files," "Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman," "Touched by an Angel," "Time Cop," "Promised Land," "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and the premier episode of "L.A. Firefighters." The band recently signed an agreement for the continuous use of their material in the soap operas, "Guiding Light," "As the World Turns" and "Another World."
od's Children consists of Peter Vogt (vocals), Bruce Wojick (guitars, vocals), Peter Ajemian (guitars, vocals), Leo McDonald (bass), and Mark Pirolli (drums).
Along with producer Michael Sak (Goo Goo Dolls), the band released "My Snake" in 1995. To date, "My Snake" has sold into the thousands.
